Cats in the Attic

29 Oct

What’s that noise?  What noise?  Can’t you hear that?  No, I have my ear plugs in.  It’s above the ceiling above our bed…what if its bees or rats and it falls on us while we are sleeping.  It’s probably someone with a video camera.  I’m serious, I hear a noise up there.  It’s late we will call someone in the morning to check on it.  Guess who slept and who did not.  But the next morning there it was again.  More than rustling, less than scratching, plus that other faint sound.  Not a squeak or a buzz or a meow, more like a faint mew or whimper.  Time to call the manager.

The house helper was the first on the scene, followed by the night watchman and then last of all the groundskeeper.  All contingencies were fully considered by the newly assembled action team.  They decided on an assault through the access door in the half bath and the groundskeeper was elected to be first man in.  After five minutes of silence our hero returned to the entry opening and asked for a blanket.  And a box.  Five more minutes he returned again and sent the box out first.  Time for a body count.  Six…not bees or rats…cats!  I’m not sure how this ties into hope but the whole thing seemed too interesting not to share.  We placed them in the garage that afternoon and the next morning the momma had found them and was caring for them again.  At least we did not have to worry about orphan kitties.  The solutions are a little more challenging when it comes to our own species but we’re working on it.

Adin & Avia would like for you to send the kittens to them. Ha!

You would think that traveling across the world and living in the city would make it so you would not have stray cats with babies in your life. God does have a sense of humor! 🙂
