Goodbyes…Well Done

12 Jun

We ate together.  We laughed together.  We cried together.  We even got sick together.  MTI is over.  For three weeks of time we came together because of a commonality in our lives’ quests and in the end we found that we shared more than we ever thought possible.  Not just uncanny connections.  Not just “God-incidences” in being there.  Not just similar hopes and fears.  And not even, just the common threads of how God brought us to that point of listening to His invitation to missions.

We found that we loved and are loved by a very big God whose sovereign sway permeates everything.  We found the truth in the paradox that when we bring nothing we bring everything.  And so we said goodbye.  But we said it well…with sadness and rejoicing.  With well wishes, prayers and encouragements.  The encouragements came from human lips but from God’s heart sharing hope with our hearts.

Lord, you show us the promise of your faithfulness in the rainbow after the storm.

The clouds of the storm are the backdrop of that display.

The suns rays venture out of their hiding place and race

to the place of the mists where our eyes cannot capture what is beyond.

And there in light’s spectrum-pagentry, in the backyard of our memories of life’s thunders,

while our paths are still moist with the deluge of our tears,

and our ears are dull of hearing from the reverberating cascades…

of  guilt and sorrow, bitterness and pain

You whisper through Your token,…into the eyes of our souls,

“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Thanks for making the effort to be stretched. Somehow I think this stretching will go on and on and on. That’s a good thing.
