Rendevous

17 May

Meeting or gathering at a prearranged place.  Last Friday night there was a rendezvous.  Our family had arranged to meet for a night and a day of family time.  We got the party started at Chuck-E-Cheese.  Some mediocre pizza but some Top Gun laughs and excitement especially for grandkids, ages 2-8.  Everybody was smiles, giggles and squeals, except when Ridge attempted a one-half-pike-back-flip-gainer with a twist off the Chucky’s DJ platform.  He couldn’t wait for that until we got back to the hotel pool.

That is what came next.  The pool water was actually warm…enough for adults.  The whirlpool was not too hot…for children.  The family that was there was leaving as we came in so it was like a family pool party for about two hours.  Eden and Vanessa were cheerleaders rather than swimmers but everyone else was wet.  “Do it again, grandpa,” was the most popular phrase in the pool.  After a couple of whirlpool pit stops for two sets of arms and one pair of shoulders, somebody said I’m hungry.  The party’s next stop was JaV’s.

JaV’s was the place to be for the late-night Friday rowdies.  That is James/allen/Vanessa/susan’s two bedroom suite.  Snacks served to the culinary excitement of the food channel.  “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” was serving up some amazing things on the tube while we were chomping down popcorn, chips, veggies and dip from our family’s resident chef, Aimee.  Jenna was chief photographer.

Barely stopping for sleep, breakfast, Susan’s serverely damaged little toe, or Avia’s lemonade shampoo, the zoo was the next stop.  Despite the cloudy yet ideal weather and temperature the energy meters started flat lining by the time the afternoon rain started.  The Stoller monkeys that could headed for the last stop before home…at the Cookie Cottage.  Great memories stored for the days ahead shared courage and hope with all our hearts.
