Happy Days

13 Mar

What are the dreams coming to life behind these eyes.  What is making this beautiful baby so happy in this moment.  A candy treat, a toy or maybe an adult showing affection and attention.  Innocence.  Trust.  Such a little life is not yet capable of  faith or hope or contemplation of future dreams, is it?  The foundation of these essentials of human existence is being laid.  What does that foundation look like to this Ethiopian child.  His grandpa could have been killed in the civil war in the ’90s.  Her uncles may have perished in one of the two mass famines since 2000.  And his mother could be a single HIV positive prostitute.  But, this baby is happy in this moment.  Each life is so precious.  Each developing foundation (“…red and yellow black and white, they are precious in His sight.”)deserves the opportunity to have faith, hope and love.  “Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity,….”  What we sing and what we read becomes what we live and with every sacrifice we are sharing hope with hearts.

Psalm 46:10 (our family verse….steming from Andy’s death) such a comfort and solace for us……hugs.
